FINANCIAL
Fees for
Family Law Cases |
Due to the
nature of litigation, it is very difficult to
estimate fees. The client will be informed at the
initial consultation of likely outcomes to the
litigation and possible time frames for completion;
however, at that time, the client must determine
whether they will be able to afford any worst-case
scenario of protracted litigation.
All of our family law cases are handled based on
hourly billing. The attorney, as well as the firm's
paralegals, charge an hourly rate for all time spent
on the client's case.
A retainer is required prior to any legal
representation. The retainer is maintained in the
firm's IOLTA (escrow) account at an agreed amount
during the litigation of the case. The retainer is
applied toward final legal fees billed to the
client.
Patrick D. Deering & Associates, P.C. does NOT set
flat or fixed fees for "uncontested divorces".
Deering & Associates provides financing for those
who need credit for legal fees.
Legal fees are earned and charged on an hourly
basis.
• Mr. Deering’s attorney rate is $250 per hour.
• Mrs. Deering’s attorney rate is $200 per hour.
• A paralegal’s time is charged at $100 per hour.
The client is billed for all costs and expenses of
litigation. Outside experts, private investigator
and accountant assistance are billed at the rate
contracted with the provider. No payment plans are
available for this type of litigation. Monthly
invoices are rendered to the client and are expected
to be paid in full upon receipt.
All clients receive:
• contracts explaining the legal representation
• a portfolio containing vital information for their
use in maintaining their important legal papers.
• a quarterly newsletter containing valuable legal
information.
